Language Across the Curriculum

PLK Yao Ling Sun College is committed to providing students with a language-rich environment for effective language learning through the collaboration of different key learning areas.

The LAC Committee, made up of language and content subject teachers, was set up to formulate related strategies, plan and oversee the implementation of the language across the curriculum.

LAC lessons are arranged in S3 and S4 in order to enhance students’ English proficiency,competency and abilities to use English. Language teachers and content subject teachers work in collaboration to maximize students’ language exposure to different key learning areas, facilitate the development of language skills across the curriculum and broaden their horizons.

It is hoped that students’ English proficiency and thinking skills will be enhanced through maximizing their opportunities on the use and exposure of English in content subjects.

Moreover, it will foster greater connections between the English language and other subjects through cross-curricular planning and collaboration. The committee also performs a duty of organizing campus English activities related to different content subjects to consolidate what students have learnt in content subjects and enrich the school’s English language environment. This can serve the dual purposes of boosting students’ confidence and abilities to use English in their daily lives and polishing their thinking skills in tackling different tasks.
